Crown and Anchor Plymouth

a popular watering hole

The building that houses the pub was originally constructed in 1690 and served as a merchant’s house before being converted into a pub in the early 18th century. The pub takes its name from the Crown and Anchor emblem that was used by the Royal Navy during the 18th and 19th centuries. The emblem was a symbol of the navy’s connection to the sea and the pub became a popular watering hole for sailors and seafarers.
